First-round registration for the 2021 National Team Trials is now open! Athletes on the provisional invitation list posted below are eligible to register during the first round of registration. 

All eligible athletes should have received an email invitation to register for the National Team Trials and should see the event available within their USA Climbing membership account. If you were invited and did not receive an invitation or do not see it in your USA Climbing membership account, pleasecontact us as soon as possible at if you wish to register.

First-round registration will remain open until March 12th, 2021 at 11:59 p.m. MT. 

Second Round Registration for National Team Trials

Following the conclusion of the first round registration period, a second-round, first-come-first-served, registration period will open from March 12th at 11:59 p.m. MT until March 17th at 11:59 p.m. MT in categories that have not reached a maximum of 60 competitors.

Second round registration requires USA Climbing approval. Interested competitors should email during the second round registration period and is only available to competitors who meet the criteria below:

  • Within the Discipline (Lead or Bouldering), finished top-30 in a USA Climbing Elite (formerly Open) National Championship competition or,
  • Within the Discipline (Lead or Bouldering), finished top-15 in a USA Climbing Youth National Championship competition.
  • For the Speed discipline, a verifiable speed time with accompanying video must be sent to events@. For male competitors the speed time must be at or below 7.6 seconds; for female competitors at or below 10.82 seconds.

Registration request must include the Discipline (Bouldering, Lead, Speed) you wish to register for and the specific performance that meets the above criteria for that Discipline. Example: "I request to apply for the Lead discipline based on my 4th rank in MYB Sport at the 2017 Youth National Championships."

USA Climbing will not consider requests submitted that do not explicitly list both the discipline and the athlete’s past performance. Requests will only be considered during the second-round registration period. Early requests will not be accepted.

Athletes will receive a response acknowledging their request has been received within 48 hours of USA Climbing receiving their request. In addition, the first received valid requests, up until when the registration limit for the relevant Category and Discipline at the National Team Trials is reached, will be approved and athletes submitting approved requests will be sent instructions to register for the National Team Trials.
