Membership FAQ


In order to compete in a USA Climbing sanctioned competition, all competitors must hold a current USA Climbing: Membership. USA Climbing Memberships are valid from September 1 through August 31, annually.  Memberships are only available online and include access to all USA Climbing sanctioned competitions. Click the Join Now/ Renew Membership button and become a USA Climbing member today! Competitors that do not register for an annual membership prior to attending a competition will be subject to the $10 Day-Member fee. The fees paid for Day-Member passes will not be applied or credited toward any other type of USA Climbing membership.

Championship Event Eligibility Requirements

Youth Competitors are required to compete in a minimum of two USA Climbing sanctioned Youth local competitions, as a USA Climbing Competitor Member, in order to be eligible to compete in their Home USA Climbing Youth Regional Championship. 
 
Collegiate Competitors are required to compete in a minimum of one USA Climbing sanctioned Collegiate local competition, as a USA Climbing Collegiate Member, in order to be eligible to compete in their Home USA Climbing Collegiate Regional Championship.
 
Open Competitors are required to hold a current USA Climbing Competitor Membership in order to be eligible to compete in USA Climbing Open National Championship events.  Open Competitors must be 16 years of age (or older) by December 31st, 2018. The Bouldering Open National Championship has additional requirements, please refer to Rule 3.6.3.

DAY-Member Pass

For the athlete that’s new to competition climbing, a $10 DAY-Member pass will allow you to compete in a USA Climbing sanctioned local competition and be placed among the other competitors in your category at the event. 

All competitors that do not register for an annual membership prior to attending a competition will be subject to the $10 DAY-Member fee.  The fees paid for DAY-Member passes will not be applied or credited toward any other type of USA Climbing Membership.  A DAY-Member pass can be purchased beginning the Monday prior to the competition and no later then the start of the competition.

Athletes that compete as a Day-Member will not be eligible to advance to Regionals.  If a Youth or Collegiate competitor wishes to be eligible to compete in Regionals, he/she will need to purchase the respective USA Climbing Membership prior to the close of registration for the respective Regional Championship in order for the locals he/she competed in as a Day-Member to count toward the competitor’s Regional eligibility.

Day-Member passes can be purchased by clicking the "Join Now" button on our website, creating an account if you do not already have one and selecting the $10 Day-Membership. 


USA Climbing Membership Card Replacement 

If your USA Climbing Membership card was lost or stolen, you may purchase a replacement card for $15.  In order to do so, please send an e-mail to: info@usaclimbing.org with the following information:

  • In the subject line, please the text: USA Climbing Membership Card Replacement followed by your first and last name
  • In the body of the e-mail, please include your first and last name, membership number & home region.
  • Within the body of the e-mail you will also need to grant USA Climbing permission to charge the $15 replacement fee to your credit card on file and provide the last 4 digits of that card.

Please note that USA Climbing's policies and processes are currently being revised as needed to conform to USA Climbing's Amended & Restated Bylaws adopted on July 17, 2017  Please email info@usaclimbing.org with any questions regarding implementation of the Bylaws and the coordination between the Bylaws and other policies and processes of USA Climbing.
