The purpose of this election is to select individuals to serve as the Athlete Directors on the USA Climbing Board of Directors and on the Athlete's Advisory Committee. These are key positions that provide athletes’ perspective on decisions and policy making of USA Climbing.
Athletes Eligible to Vote in Election
Criteria for eligibility:
- Must be 18 years or older by December 31, 2018
- Must be a US Citizen
- Has represented the United States as an Athlete in the Olympic Games, IFSC World Championships, IFSC Pan American Championships, or other major international competitions (including paraclimbing international championships) within the ten (10) year period prior to December 31 of the year in which the election is held or appointment is made.
- Has been actively engaged in competition at USA Climbing sanctioned events, as determined by the Board of Directors in consultation with the CEO, within the two (2) year period prior to December 31 of the year in which the election is held or appointment is made.

Athlete Directors represent the athlete perspective in all decisions by the USAC Board of Directors. The Board of Directors oversees the strategic direction of USA Climbing, which encompasses areas such as competition, budgeting and financial matters, committee and task force structures, and growth planning.
Athletes' Advisory Committee
The USA Climbing Athletes' Advisory Committee assists the Board and Staff in making recommendations on decisions that affect USA Climbing's athletes. For examples, this could include making recommendations on US Team selection procedures or templates for athlete contracts.
