To USA Climbing Past and Present Athletes:
USA Climbing’s Board of Directors recently approved expanding the Board from 10 to 15 Directors. As part of this change the athlete voice on the Board will expand from 20% to 33.3%, the most significant change to athlete engagement since its founding. As such, I am pleased to report that USA Climbing has two (2) open Athlete Director positions on the Board of Directors.
For the purposes of this election and in accordance with USA Climbing’s approved Amended and Restated Bylaws effective October 24, 2020, USA Climbing seeks one (1) candidate meeting the eligibility requirements below of a 10 Year or 10 Year + Athlete and one (1) candidate meeting the eligibility requirements AND also be a Paraclimbing Athlete. Any USA Climbing Athlete meeting the eligibility requirements for election (below) is invited to express interest in becoming a candidate for USA Climbing Athlete Director.
This election will follow the required three-step Athlete Election process:
- Invitation to Athletes (this announcement)
- Expression of Interest by eligible athletes DUE DECEMBER 1, 2020
- Posting of official candidates, their letters of interest and questionnaires, will be posted to USA Climbing’s website December 4, 2020
- Election by voting of all USAC athletes eligible to vote*. The Election Opens December 11, 2020 at 11am MST and will close December 20, 2020 at 11:59 MST
*Athletes must be members by December 7th, 2020 in order to vote in this election.
Ballots for this election will be emailed December 11, 2020 to USAC Athletes who are eligible to vote. BALLOTS WILL BE EMAILED TO THE EMAIL ADDRESS RECORDED IN THE ATHLETE’S MEMBERSHIP PROFILE IN SPORT:80.
Participating in the election process whether through identifying fellow athletes to run, expressing interest yourself, and finally by voting for your representatives is extremely important in ensuring athlete representation on the Board.
