USA Climbing Extends Youth Qualifying Series for Regions Affected by Gym Closures

Attention USA Climbing members,

In response to the ongoing Covid-19 Pandemic, USA Climbing has made the decision to extend the Virtual Bouldering Season for some Regions. This extension will be focused on Regions located on the West Coast, specifically Regions 11, 12, 21, 31, and 32, due to the number of gym closures those Regions have experienced. As a result, those Region’s Virtual Bouldering Season will be extended to March 14th in an effort to allow more time for host facilities to reopen, which will create opportunities for competitors to participate in an event and potentially earn eligibility toward the Bouldering Regional Championship. All remaining Region's Virtual Bouldering Season will conclude on January 31st as recently communicated. A final Regional Ranking will be provided to competitors within a week of the season ending.

The 2021 Bouldering Regional Championship will likely be rescheduled for April. USA Climbing will provide a more substantial update regarding the Bouldering Regional Championship and the remainder of the Youth Qualifying Season within the next two weeks.

The Virtual Lead/Top Rope season is underway and USA Climbing’s Regional Coordinators are working with climbing gyms to secure host sites for those Virtual Lead/Top Rope events. To stay up to date on current events, parents and competitors should continue to check their home Region’s webpage, which may be found at this LINK.

The Virtual Speed Qualification Season is still scheduled to begin on February 1st
