USA Climbing Announces Cancellation of 2020 Sport & Speed Open National Championships

USA Climbing announced today the cancellation of the 2020 USA Climbing Sport & Speed Open National Championships.

The 2020 Sport & Speed Open National Championships were originally scheduled to take place March 13 & 14 at The Front Climbing Gym in Salt Lake City, Utah. The competition was postponed due to COVID-19 with the hope that the event could safely take place later in August or September. Given the continuing uncertainties regarding COVID-19, postponement is no longer an option.

“We are extremely disappointed to cancel this fantastic Championship, but the safety and wellbeing of our athletes and community is paramount,” said Marc Norman, Chief Executive Officer. “We want to thank our community for understanding and our partners at The Front and the Utah Sports Commission for their willingness to work with us and explore every possible solution to make for a successful event.”
