Notice From USA Climbing To All Female D Sport Semi-Final Competitors, Coaches & Parents:
Kennesaw, GA – July 14, 2018
It has come to our attention that USA Climbing should have advanced 21 FYD competitors to Semi-Finals rather than 20 due to the Qualification placement of a Foreign National. In order to address this error and to provide sufficient time for the 21st-placed climber to return to Kennesaw safely and compete while preserving the fairness and integrity of the competition, we have determined to make the following changes:
- Each FYD competitor who placed in the top 21 in the Qualifying Round will advance to Finals;
- The Semi-Final Round will proceed as scheduled for FYD competitors, except that the climber who placed 21 in the Qualifying Round will not be required to compete in Semi-Finals due to travel time;
- Placement in Semi-Finals will be considered as usual under the Rulebook for purposes of the running order for Finals and for purposes of breaking Finals ties, except as determined by the Chief Judge to be necessary to preserve the fairness and integrity of the competition.
We have identified the mistake in the advancement announcement and have taken steps to avoid this error in the future. We wish all competitors and their families safe travels and competitive success.
