Inclement Weather Official Response (Updated: 1/12/18): USA Climbing has been staying informed regarding potential weather-related conditions that could make it difficult for some competitors to travel to their respective Bouldering Youth Divisional Championship competition this weekend. USA Climbing will not make any decisions pertaining to inclement weather until after all Bouldering Youth Divisional Championships have concluded. We strongly encourage competitors and their families to be aware of the weather forecast in their area and in the area of the Divisional Championship they are registered to attend and plan accordingly, however we do not encourage any competitors or their families to put themselves in imminent danger in order to attend a USA Climbing sanctioned competition this weekend. If the weather prohibits a competitor from competing in the Bouldering Youth Divisional Championships this weekend, the competitor should notify firstname.lastname@example.org no later than Saturday, January 13th at 11:59pm MST. The email communication should contain the competitor’s first and last name, home region, full address, team affiliation and evidence of inclement weather preventing the athlete from attending the competition. The majority of these competitors were set to attend either the Region 202 or Region 601 competitions, with a few cases in 602, 701 and 801. Based on review of their requests and knowledge of the weather in these areas, we are permitting those competitors, from these regions who informed USA Climbing by email to firstname.lastname@example.org prior to December 9th at 11:59 MST of inability to compete due to ice, snow or fire, to advance to their home Divisional Championship competition.
